Model 100% Tobacco-Free School Policy

The Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch has worked closely with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the North Carolina School Board Association in the development of a model tobacco use policy that can be used by your school district. This model policy meets the legal requirements of state and federal laws, which prohibit the use of tobacco in school buildings, and incorporate provisions of new state legislation related to tobacco use in schools. This model policy is intended to provide guidance to local school boards as they review their old tobacco use policies and adopt new policies.

You can print out this policy or download it in PDF format so that you'll have a 'clean' copy. To download the policy, either click on the download link at the top of the policy page, or click on it with your right mouse button and choose the "save as" option to save it to your hard drive.
